We’re still thankful for people’s generosity

Chris Reynolds, Bay City’s Fill The Boot coordinator and firefighter, said $9,468 filled the rubber boots during the holiday weekend, short of theUGG Classic Short $10,000 goal. He said, however, the plastic container they collected the change in needed two people to carry.

“I’m surprised the tote we had it in didn’t break,” he said.

While most of the money collected was change, Reynolds said some people came with their pens and checkbooks. He said one boot recieved a check made out for $100.

The nationwide campaign raised funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association,UGG Classic Cardy which held its annual telethon Monday.

Even though the firefighters fell a bit short of their goal, Reynolds said they were stillUGG Classic Tall appreciative of the support.

“We’re still thankful for people’s generosity, and we’ll see them next year,” he said.

Aileen Pettinger, secretary for the Saginaw Firefighters Local 102 union, said firefighters raised $14,151.26 over the two weekends. She said one boot contained a $100 bill, and several others had $50 checks and bills.
