We believe we made a good move
Touted as much more than just a street festival, organizers say the annual event draws 40,000 to 60,000 people Saturday and Sunday who want to enjoy the activities and the beach. By Saturday afternoon,UGG Boots the lots next to the beach were packed. Double-decker shuttle buses circled, bringing in more people from the Oceanside Transit Center parking lot.
"We believe we made a good move when we made some changes," said Debbie Allen, chairwoman of the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce, which spearheads the event along with a pack of local sponsors. "People enjoy this setup, being closer to the beach."
In previous years, the festival took up all the space and parking lots surrounding the harbor. This year, Classic UGG Cardy Boots the vendors and activities were condensed to the area closest to the beach, providing more parking and an easier-to-navigate festival.
Harbor Days brought in 210 vendors, compared with about 180 in previous years.
"We have more vendors and a better space," Allen said. "The pirate theme is something we did in 2007 and 2008; it always brings a lot of families out."
Dana Madewell, an Oceanside resident spotted Saturday with her older daughter and some children she was baby-sitting, said she always brought her children to Harbor Days because the event is more than just theMetallic UGG Tall Boots outdoor mall associated with street fairs. "There is just so much to do for kids," she said.
